Description
A long solo (8 pages) by John Coltrane, which, for me, ranks amongst his top five best solos.
Without a piano, he brings out every nuance of the harmony of the famous ‘INDIANA’ theme in a 4/4 sequence with the drums.
Ab (4 choruses), modulation to F a minor third below over 2 choruses, then a whole tone below to Eb over two bars, and finally to Bb – a whole tone above the original key – without a single mistake.
Transcription for instruments in Eb.
