BALLADE (C high)

For anyone who found themselves thoroughly put off (myself included) by reading the notation for ‘BALLADE’ at the end of the CHARLIE PARKER omnibus, I’m offering a clearer notation of this superb eighth-note solo, along with a number of rhythmic, melodic and harmonic corrections whilst I’m at it.

The piece as a whole, however (as is to be expected from Parker), remains relatively complex in certain passages, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint…
